Culture and Tourism

Overview

Known for its rich cultural heritage, Yobe State offers visitors fascinating scenery and colorful activities to behold, souvenirs to cherish, and the happy memories of its hospitable and accommodating people to take away and treasure for a long time. Tourism in the state is based primarily on its natural resources, impressive history, rich traditions, and cultural heritage of the people. In the state are found sceneries of poetic beauty in the hilly south and historic monuments representing the past grandeur of the Kanem Bornu Empire in the north. The state’s cultural patterns are epitomized in her dances, Arts, Crafts, Dressing, and even the menu.

Yobe state tourism industry is growing tremendously, and Yobe itself is endowed with abundant tourist attraction sites, numerous cultural festivals, and traditional sports, which are being systematically developed for maximum impact on economic growth, poverty reduction, and increased employment opportunities.

The government’s overall policy objective in this sector is the creation of an investor-friendly environment anchored on the principle of public-private partnership through the provision of robust tourism and hospitality infrastructures including road networks across the state, hotels, eateries, and other modern recreational facilities.

Tourism anywhere in the world is a good spinner. Mindful of the revenue-yielding potentials of this sector, the current administration has designed the groundwork for the effective exploitation, improvement, promotion, and regulation of tourism businesses in Yobe state.
